Intel CEO Will Meet Donald Trump After Urged To Resign From His Position

JAKARTA After making an open statement regarding his conflict of interest with Chinese company, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan, will visit the White House on Monday, August 11.

It is not known the exact time of the meeting, but this visit is still related to the demands of US President Donald Trump some time ago. The American leader urged Tan to step down in a post on social media.

Launching from the Wall Street Journal report, Tan will have in-depth conversations with Trump. Through the meeting, Tan will explain his personal and professional background to avoid links with Chinese companies.

The purpose of this meeting is to get more opportunities and trust from Trump. Tan wants to show that he is always committed to America and does not side with China.

Tan is also reportedly proposing cooperation between Intel and the US government. This step was taken to ease tensions that have surfaced over the past week, especially after a senator asked Intel to discuss Tan's relationship with Chinese companies.

Following up on the request, Trump immediately gave a strong response. He demanded Tan's open resignation and called the Intel leader someone "very conflicting".

This is not the first time allegations against Tan have surfaced. Reuters briefly reported in April 2025 that Tan invested at least $200 million in hundreds of advanced Chinese manufacturing and chip companies.

Some of the Chinese companies even have links to the Chinese military. This report became one of Trump's concerns until pressure to step down emerged.
