JAKARTA - A new scam is spreading on TikTok via text messages that offer high-paid remote work. However, clicking on the wrong link can make you lose more money than promised.

The message claims that you can earn hundreds of dollars per day just by working from home. In fact, often by doing simple tasks online. However, behind this lucrative offer is a scam that can harm victims both financially and personally.

This message usually comes suddenly, as if it is official, but if you look more carefully, its contents are often unclear, full of spelling and grammar errors. In addition, the offers given are usually too good to be true and unfortunately, this kind of scam is getting more and more widespread.

Fortunately, you can reduce the risk by using a spam filter and a message filter on iOS 26 to block suspicious senders.

Examples Of Fraud Mode

Some of the users of TikTok recently received messages claiming to be from TikTok Shop, offering hundreds of dollars per day for an hour's "online help" job.

Please note, TikTok Shop is an official e-commerce feature used by creators and businesses to sell products. However, the fraudsters used the name to make their offer look legitimate.

In fact, TikTok itself has warned that they do not recruit employees via random text messages.

The message promises a fee of 140 to $880 per day just to complete simple tasks, with a bonus of 800 US dollars after five days. This amount far exceeds the federal minimum wage even up to 120 times in the highest range.

This offer sounds tempting, especially since the conditions are only over 18 years old and has a smartphone or computer. However, there are no clear job positions, no task details, and the sender asked potential victims to contact them via WhatsApp or Telegram.

Personal messaging applications like this make it easier for fraudsters to control interactions and make it difficult to track or report.

After the victim responds, fraudsters usually start with small tasks such as giving likes to videos or following certain accounts. Some victims are even given a small fee to build trust.

Then, the victim was asked to pay a sum of money to "open" payments more massively or send cryptocurrencies with the lure of multiple profits. After the money was sent, the fraudster just disappeared.

Part Of The Global Scam Network

CTM360 cybersecurity companies recently uncovered a global scam operation called FraudOnTok. The group has registered more than 15,000 fake TikTok Shop domains that mimic real sites and ads.

According to The Hacker News, these sites are used to steal credentials, install malware, and trick people into sending cryptocurrencies.

FraudOnTok also uses TikTok videos made by AI, featuring influencers and fake brand ambassadors to make scams look more convincing.

How to Protect Yourself

Don't believe work offers via text messages are not asked for fantastic fees. Official companies don't recruit in this way.

No job asks you to pay money or send cryptocurrencies to start. Use the spam filter on iOS 26 to block suspicious messages.
