JAKARTA - Reddit CEO Steve Huffman announced that the company is allocating resources to develop its own homemade search engine. This search engine will leverage data from a large Reddit user base to provide a more accurate answer.

The public may have realized that the Reddit thread-thread is increasingly popular in Google search engines. Whatever question or keywords you are looking for, Reddit almost always appears on the front page of the search results.

This is because Reddit has been in partnership with companies like Google and OpenAI to share their data. But now, CEO Reddit has confirmed the company's plans to create its own search engine.

One of Reddit's advantages is data coming from real conversations between users. This is why Google is happy to display Reddit's results at the top of the search. Reddit is aware of this potential and wants to make use of it optimally.

Huffman noted to investors that the company is focusing its resources on producing results that suit our most pressing needs, including making Reddit the main search engine.

"Every week, hundreds of millions of people visit Reddit for advice, and we turn more of that intention into active users looking for native Reddit," Huffman said.

The company wants to rely on human voices, which are one of the main powers of this platform. Huffman also cites survey results showing that many users believe some questions can only be answered by humans, not by artificial intelligence.

Currently, Reddit has nearly 6 million active weekly users. User query volume has increased up to 10 times since the first quarter of this year. In total there are more than 70 million active users in the Reddit core search feature and more than 416.4 million unique weekly active users across the platform.
