JAKARTA - OpenAI announced it has disabled experimental features in the ChatGPT app that allow users to share their conversations to be indexed by search engines like Google.
This feature was originally designed as a way for users to share conversations that are considered beneficial publicly. But it seems that this feature doesn't have a long life.
We just removed a feature from @ChatGPTapp that allowed users to make their conversations discoverable by search engines, such as Google. This was a short-lived experiment to help people discover useful conversations. This feature required users to opt-in, first by picking a chat… pic.twitter.com/mGI3lF05Ua

We just remotivated a feature from @ChatGPTapp that allowed users to make their conversations independent by search engines, such as Google. This feature only applies if the user consciously chooses to share certain conversations and ticks the option so that the conversation can be indexed by the search engine, wrote OpenAI's Chief Information Security, Dane Stuckey in its announcement on X.
But unfortunately, according to OpenAI, this feature is finally considered too risky because it allows users to share information accidentally.
"We decided to delete this option because it is too likely that users share things they don't mean," he explained further.
