JAKARTA After launching Grok 4, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model developed by xAI now presents a new unique feature. This feature is referred to as Companions or Companion.
As the name implies, this feature is designed to be a friend of new interactions, of course with the support of AI. Currently, there are two companions who Grok offers, namely Ani, who is a girl with the characteristics of anime and Bad Rudy who is a 3D201.
From the two characters presented, Elon Musk as the owner of xAI shared screenshots of Ani's character. In his post, Musk said that the character was ' quite cool'.
It is not yet clear what the purpose of the launch of AI Companion. xAI or Musk did not explain whether this character is just skin that speaks when giving answers to users or designed to be friends and partners.
The feature is still rolling out in stages for users who have updated the application. AI assistants are also only available to users who have subscribed to Super Grok packages for 30 US dollars (Rp487,000) per month.

Unfortunately, the launch of this feature sparked debate. In xAI posts through platform X, not a few users have criticized the feature. According to a number of users, Grok has normalized excessive 'sexual fantasy' by launching the feature.

Musk also doesn't seem to agree with people's criticism. He briefly replied to one user's comments alluding to the birth rate by saying that the AI Companion feature might make people 'get better'.
