JAKARTA - Apple is rumored to be launching a second-generation Vision Pro headset by the end of 2025, with a faster M4 chip, more convenient design, and deeper AI integration. Although the first model features advanced technology, high prices and a limited ecosystem, it makes it less competitive with competing products such as Meta, Samsung, and Google.

Last year, Apple officially entered the new product category, namely headset, through Vision Pro. However, many think the price of this headset is too high for the market. Now, Apple is reportedly developing a second-generation Vision Pro which may be released at the end of 2025.

According to Mark Gurman's Boloomberg report, Apple is preparing to launch a second-generation Vision Pro in 2025. The new headset is rumored to be using a more up-to-date M4 chipset and a redesigned strap to address user complaints about discomfort to the neck and head.

Apple is also said to be making changes to the M4 chip, including adding more than 16 neural engines to the M2 chip currently in use. This will make its performance twice as fast as the first model. However, Gurman's report is slightly different from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who previously mentioned that the second-generation Vision Pro may be using the M5 chip.

Even so, the two analysts agree that this headset will be launched at the end of the year. Gurman's report also states that Apple will focus more on the second generation of AI in Vision Pro. This is in line with Apple's efforts to integrate Apple Intelligence into all its products and services. However, given its current development, it is not clear whether the addition of AI will have a significant impact.

Apple's decision to enter the headset market shocked many, considering previously the company was only known as Apple Watch in thewearable category.

Apple promotes Vision Pro with impressive features and functionality. So far, the majority of reviews have praised its capabilities. However, the lack of a mature ecosystem and high prices make this headset not aimed at the mass market. Previous news mentioned that the first generation Vision Pro was more aimed at developers.

The company is also rumored to be developing several headset models, maybe even smart glasses. Apple isn't the only one trying to get into the headset market. Samsung and Google are working through Project Moohan and Android XR, while Meta already dominates with its Ray-Ban products. So, Apple still has a long way to go to compete.
