JAKARTA - Google officially launched a new icon for the Gemini app on Android and iPhone devices this week. The icon now carries four typical Google colors: blue, red, yellow, and green. That color makes it in line with other Google app icons such as Gmail, Drive, and Photos.

The design of this latest icon is still dominated by blue on the right, with the other part filled with red, yellow, and green colors. On the middle left, there is a fine gradation that resembles the current Google's "G" logo. The four dots on this icon are now rounded up, no longer pointed as before, creating a more friendly and modern impression.

In addition, the size of the icon is now slightly larger and fills more areas in the background white circle, making it more easily recognized on the home screen of the phone.

Google calls this change a form of unification of Gemini's visual identity into the Google application ecosystem as a whole. Although the shape of the icon resembles a "sparkle" or spark of light, the design is quite unique so it is not easily swapped with other Google applications.

Widget Update On Android

On Android, Google also made changes to Gemini's home screen widget. Apart from the new icon, there are now live shortcuts to the Video and Screenshare features, which are connected to Gemini Live mode. This feature allows users to quickly start video conversations or share screens.

Overall, the widget layout is now simpler, with the number of customized shortcuts depending on the size of the widget. For sizes 3times3 and above, users will find eight main shortcuts: open the app (with the active keyboard), voice input, camera, gallery, file, video, screenshare, and live.

Meanwhile, the 'Ask Gemini' column was changed to just a 'Gemini' bar, without a dynamical background like before.

Latest Version And Chat Search Feature

For Android, the latest version is 1,076555963 and is widely available on the Google Play Store.

On iOS, version 1,2025,2562103 was launched on Wednesday, with the addition of a search feature in the conversation history. Users simply tap on the chat icon in the upper left corner to access the search field this feature is not yet available on Android.

Now, users are still waiting for Gemini's new icon to be implemented on the gemini.google.com website, which is expected to follow soon.

With this update, Google reaffirms its commitment to providing a more integrated and easily accessible AI experience across platforms.
