JAKARTA - Continuing the discussion of cooperation at the 2025 Barcelona Mobile World Congress (MWC). The Ministry of Communication and Digital collaborates to sign a Joint Initiative with various parties for the Development of the Underwater Connectivity Ecosystem in Indonesia.

Program Pembangunan Ekosistem Bawah Laut ini didukung oleh Kementerian Komdigi, Telekomunikasi International (Telin), Telkom Infra, Telkom University, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), XLSmart, Meta, Alita Praya Mitra, GSMA, AJARI, Asosiasi Operator Sistem Komunikasi Cable Bawah Indonesia (ASKALSI), TIP, dan Ciena.

Head of the Human Resources Development Agency of the Ministry of Communication and Trade, Bonifasius Wahyu Pudjianto, said that this initiative is very important for equal distribution of connectivity, considering that Indonesia has more than 17,000 islands.

"However, the infrastructure requires human resources for its performance and utilization. We need these talents, at this time it can be said that there are still few talents available in the market," said Boni on Thursday, June 25.

Collaborating with universities, especially Telkom University will provide curriculum certification training to prepare digital talents in the field of subsea or underwater.

The Underwater Ecosystem Development Program will officially begin in the fourth quarter of 2025 with a series of workshops, training sessions, and research projects planned throughout Indonesia.

"We have a digital-digital communication program every year. We receive approximately 500 students each year in this area. So the needs for this field, God willing, we can fulfill it," added Telkom University Academic Director Parman Sukarno.

This program focuses on developing talent, innovation, and collaboration of industries to strengthen Indonesia's position in the global digital economy.
