Huawei Mate XT 2 Expected To Launch September With Satellite Connectivity Support

JAKARTA - Several reports reveal that Huawei is developing a new tri-fold folding smartphone series called Mate XT 2. A recent report states that Huawei Mate XT 2 will be announced in the second half of this year.

Now, a recent leak from Smart Pikachu tipster provides a more specific launch time.

According to the source, the Huawei Mate XT 2 will be announced in September in China. The smartphone is undergoing internal testing with satellite connectivity support, possibly for features such as sending emergency messages or basic internet access in remote areas similar to features found in the latest Huawei flagship phones and several Apple devices.

In addition to satellite connectivity, Mate XT 2 will reportedly get improvements in the chipset sector, camera capabilities, and communication technology. Another leak reveals the device will use UFG (ultra-flexible glass) technology to increase screen resistance, make the device more durable and flexible.

The Huawei Mate XT was first introduced in September last year with a large 10.2-inch display and a super thin profile of only 3.6 mm when it opened. The device has a triple camera configuration (50 MP + 13 MP + periscope lens), 16GB RAM, and storage of up to 1TB. The XT Mate has sold more than 400,000 units, signaling a high consumer interest in ultra-premium folding smartphones.

In related news, Samsung is also reportedly preparing a trifold phone that will be Huawei's direct competitor in this segment. Samsung phones suspected of having Q7M codenames have appeared in the GSMA IMEI database with model numbers SM-F9680 (China) and SM-F968N (Korean). This device is expected to be launched in October 2025.

With stiff competition in the tri-fold foldable smartphone market, the launches of Huawei Mate XT 2 and Samsung Q7M by the end of this year will certainly be interesting to watch, especially in terms of technological innovation and superior features offered.
