Meta Offers IDR 1.63 Trillion Bonus To OpenAI Employees To Join Its Company

JAKARTA - OpenAI CEO Sam Altman admitted that Meta had offered OpenAI employees a bonus of 100 million US dollars (Rp1.63 trillion) to recruit them.

In an Uncapped podcast hosted by his brother, Altman said that this offer was Meta's attempt to recruit top engineers, to improve its artificial intelligence strategy.

"They (Meta) started to make big offers to a lot of people in our team," Altman quoted Reuters as saying. "You know, like a signing bonus of 100 million US dollars, more than that (in the form of) compensation per year."

Despite being offered a large bonus, Altman stated that until now there have been no employees who have decided to take the opportunity.

"At least, so far, none of our best people have decided to do it," he said further.

Meanwhile, to increase AI in its company, the tech giant Meta has completed its acquisition of Scale AI with an investment agreement of more than US$29 billion or around Rp233.23 trillion.

In this agreement, Scale founder Alexandr Wang joined Meta to work on all the AI Meta projects. However, Wang will also continue to serve as director on the Board of Directors Scale.

"We will deepen the work we are doing together to generate data for AI models and Alexandr Wang will join Meta to work on our superintelligence efforts," Meta said in a statement.
