JAKARTA - Microsoft and ASUS have officially announced two new handheld devices, namely ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, designed with the Windows operating system.
The inaugural launch will take place during the 2025 holiday season in a number of countries, including the United States, Japan, Britain, Germany, France, Australia, and other regions following later.
These two devices are designed to provide a comfortable and accessible gaming experience, both locally, via cloud, and via remote play from Xbox consoles in other locations.
ROG Xbox Ally comes with AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB of SSD internal storage, offering high performance with low power consumption suitable for mobile use.
While the variant is more sophisticated, ROG Xbox Ally X, equipped with an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, 24GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 1TB SSD storage capacity, provides maximum performance and supports the latest AI features and high efficiency for heavyweight games.
Both models are equipped with a 7-inch FHD (1080p) IPS touch screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits of brightness, and a Corning Gorilla Glass Victus shield with DXC anti-reflection technology.
There are also other features including Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, Xbox-style integrated controller complete with ABXY, D-pad buttons, optical analogs, and ergonomic grips. Especially on Xbox Ally X, there are impulse triggers for more immersive playing sensations.

In terms of connectivity, Xbox Ally is equipped with two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery support, while Xbox Ally X provides USB4 ports and Thunderbolt 4 compatibility. Both also have UHS-II microSD card slots and 3.5mm audio jacks.
Xbox Ally and Ally X support direct access to Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta), Xbox Remote Play, as well as popular PC gaming stores such as Battle.net and Steam.
Both devices also support the Gaming Copilot feature, a personal assistant who helps players find favorite games, improve skills, and connect with communities.
