JAKARTA Meta Platforms Inc. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly forming a special team to develop Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), an artificial intelligence capable of matching or even surpassing human capabilities, according to a Bloomberg News report on Tuesday, June 10.
In the report, it was stated that Zuckerberg was personally recruiting around 50 AI experts, including the new head of AI research, to join the new AGI super Intelligence team. This move is referred to as a response to disappointment with the performance of the latest Meta big language model, Llama 4, which is considered unsatisfactory.
Meta is also reportedly going to disburse more than 10 billion US dollars (Rp163 trillion) into Scale AI, the company founded by Alexandr Wang. Bloomberg said Wang would most likely join the AGI Meta team once the deal is finalized.
Meta itself has not yet made official comments on this report.

Previously, Meta had also postponed the launch of its flagship AI model called "Behemoth", according to a report from the Wall Street Journal, as there were internal concerns regarding the capabilities and implications of the technology.
Zuckerberg's move comes amid fierce competition with companies like OpenAI, which are also working on developing AGI and looking for more investment to make it happen.
If this project goes according to plan, then Meta has the potential to become one of the dominant powers in the development of next generation artificial intelligence.
