Komdigi Urges Meta And Digital Platforms To Collaborate To Block Deviant Groups

JAKARTA - After cutting off access to six communities and groups of Blood Fans' or the like on Facebook, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Angga Raka Prabowo, asked Meta to trace other similar groups.

There are already several similar groups that we have identified and have blocked. But this is not enough. I have asked Meta to continue updating data and monitoring closely on the potential emergence of similar groups on their platforms," he said.

Angga also encouraged other digital platforms to collaborate with law enforcement officials to reveal the mastermind behind it, which has proven to contain content contrary to social norms and laws in Indonesia.

"We also urge Meta to actively cooperate with law enforcement officials to identify and submit group owner and manager data," he said.

According to Angga, the mastermind behind the spread of deviant content must be processed by the law as hard as possible. "This is a serious crime that destroys morals and endangers our children," he said.

Meanwhile, Meta said to avoid spreading content with similar topics, the company that oversees Facebook is trying to block accounts and groups that also discuss the theme of the recess.

"Child exploitation is a terrible and intolerable crime. We have blocked this group from our app and are continuing to work proactively to detect and block similar accounts," a Meta spokesperson said.
