JAKARTA - Along with the increasingly massive use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in various fields, including education, not a few people are worried that the ease of AI can make students lazy to study.

Responding to those concerns, Danny Ardianto, Head of YouTube's Head of Public Policy and Government Relations to Southeast Asia and Asia Frontier, emphasized that AI was designed not to replace human roles.

But according to him, the presence of this AI can actually be used as a tool that will support the educational process, both for teachers and students.

"So actually, Al is not always right, then Al can't do everything from A to Z. So he still has to be guided," Danny told the media on Wednesday, May 7 in Jakarta.

For teaching and learning activities, according to Danny, it still takes the role of teachers, parents, ecosystems, the surrounding community, creators, to remind that even though there is technology called AI, students cannot be lazy.

"Al does not replace the role of teachers or creators. Al is like a co-worker when it comes to creators," he explained.

Meanwhile, Google and YouTube Indonesia have also just launched two new initiatives, the Gemini Academy 2025 and the EDucator Academy, which are their efforts to expand access and quality of digital learning.

Both provide training for teachers and creators to take advantage of technology, including AI, in developing creative and relevant educational content.
