JAKARTA OpenAI will cooperate with the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in a project called cderGPT. Through this project, Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be used to evaluate drugs.

Discussions on this partnership were first reported by Wired on May 7. An AI technology from OpenAI will be used for the Center for Drug Evaluation (CDE), an institution that regulates the types of drug sales, either drugs that are sold freely or prescribed.

By utilizing AI, the FDA wants to accelerate the drug evaluation process. This action no longer needs to be done independently or one by one because the process will take too much time.

The overall process of developing drugs takes a long time, which can reach a decade. Therefore, simplifying the process is very necessary even though it is not in all parts.

This collaboration between OpenAI and the FDA only accelerates a fraction of the timeframe for drug manufacturing. More technology is needed towards the end, but it is very useful in simplifying the development process.

However, there is no explanation as to what AI model will be used and what kind of AI will work. It is also not certain whether the AI model to be used is truly reliable and minimal from hallucinations or errors.

Keep in mind that this partnership is still in the discussion stage. There is a possibility that other companies will join this partnership. Reportedly, colleagues from Elon Musk's DOGE will join the discussion.
