JAKARTA - Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said that the draft Ministerial Regulation (Permen) related to the Artificial Intelligence (AI) curriculum and coding are still in the harmonization stage.
"Still in the process of harmonization with other relevant ministries and ministries," said Minister of Education and Culture Abdul in a statement on Wednesday, May 7 in Jakarta.
Furthermore, he said that in presenting the AI curriculum and coding, it is likely that it will cooperate with many parties, both from government agencies and private companies.
"It can be with many parties, because there are very many coding providers in the community, and we have collaborated with several parties on how to make this coding learning happen," he said.
The most important thing he emphasized was that this AI curriculum and coding would be the subject of choice in the 2025-2026 school year.
"But I want to emphasize once again that for 2025-2026 AI and coding is still a subject of choice, not a compulsory subject," he said.
This AI and coding curriculum was previously announced by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. At that time, he said the AI curriculum would begin to be applied to the new school year at various levels of education.
