JAKARTA Pinterest launched a new feature that supports deep visual search. This feature is supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is limited in several countries for now.
With this feature, Pinterest users can search for or perfect the image according to their needs. This new tool will also narrow the search results to the desired color palette, aesthetics, or other matches.
For example, when a user opens a Pin containing an outfit display, the user can simplify the image of the skirt to a certain color or cloth model. Users can also search for display ideas based on the skirt model they see.
"Our visual search technology illustrates changes in the way users interact and find inspiration," said Dana Cho, Vice President of Pinterest Design. "We are compiling personalized discovery trips that empower individuals to find their unique styles, and also shop."

This AI-based feature can operate once Pinterest breaks down and decodes the image. After that, Pinterest adds a new animated light when users want to identify or select the objects they see.
This visual search feature will be placed in the lower left corner of the image, which is in the form of the Cari Image button. Once the button is tapped, the user can press the object in the image for a long time, then the next search can be done.
For now, this visual search feature is only available on women's fashion content in the US, Canada and UK. Pinterest promises to expand the category and expand the country in the future.
