JAKARTA In addition to announcing the planned launch of NotebookLM in the form of an independent application, Google also announced the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) model the platform uses.

The company revealed that NotebookLM is now supported by Gemini 2.5 Flash. By improving the AI model used, the performance of NotebookLM will also increase, as well as features such as Audio Overview in it.

In December 2024, NotebookLM still uses Gemini's 2.5 Flash. While still relying on the AI model, NotebookLM has received a lot of praise for its language skills that continue to be smooth and natural.

Despite experiencing increased performance, NotebookLM with 2.5 Flashes will think in accordance with the commands requested by users. This platform will seek more comprehensive answers, especially in answering complex multi-step questions.

In the Gemini app, the 2.5 Flash support is still being developed, as can be seen from the 'experimental' description placed alongside the name of the AI model. However, all users can already use the model.

This model will be developed to replace the 2.0 Flash version completely. It is not yet known whether NotebookLM will stop using 2.0 Flash when the platform is released in the form of applications on iOS and Android.

For developers, Gemini 2.5 Flash is still available in the preview stage for now. Google is still focused on fixing some of the obstacles in it previously launched in general.
