JAKARTA Apple is getting closer to the realization of the launch of its own smart glasses. According to a recent report from the Power On bulletin written by Bloomberg trusted journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is currently developing the product under the code name N50, and will integrate a number of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into glasses-style devices that remain affordable.
Apple's ultimate goal has long been known, which is to create the best augmented reality (AR) glasses in the industry. However, according to Gurman, the product still takes a few more years to really be ready for use by general consumers.
While waiting for AR technology to mature really well, Apple wants to launch a lighter and simpler smart glasses device, similar to the Meta and Ray-Ban collaborations that have previously released smart glasses. Ray-Ban's own Meta glasses have become quite popular as they are able to bring various advanced technological features such as cameras, microphones, AI assistants, and audio speakers into a design that is not too flashy, although it has not yet embedded the AR screen display.
Apple seems to be following a similar approach. "This device will not be ready in the near future, but the idea is to make glasses an Apple Intelligence device. This product will analyze the surrounding environment and provide information to its users, although it does not reach full augmented reality levels," Gurman said.

Apple itself is still considering whether to include the ability to take photos on the device, given concerns about user privacy.
Not only that, Gurman also mentioned that Apple is still developing new generation AirPods equipped with cameras, which will be the next step in developing the company's Visual Intelligence' technology.
Both smart glasses and AirPods with this camera are expected to be launched around 2027, according to previous reports.
