XLSmart Affirms Commitment To Workers And Customers, Make Sure There Are No Layoffs

JAKARTA - PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk (XLSMART) today officially established as an integrated telecommunications entity, the result of the merger of businesses from PT XL Axiata Tbk, PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk, and PT Smart Telecom.

After being approved by the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs on Thursday, April 17, Minister of Home Affairs Meutya Hafid revealed a number of requirements that must be met by XLSMART.

The requirements are the construction of 8,000 Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), increasing download speed to 16 percent by 2029, and also increasing access to digital services in more than 175,000 schools, 8,000 health service facilities and 42,000 government offices throughout Indonesia.

In addition, Meutya also hopes that this merger can create a healthier telecommunications industry, and emphasize XLSMART to continue to maintain its services better, more efficient, inclusive and affordable.

Not to forget that it is important, Meutya said the government emphasized that this merger does not reduce the number or terminate employment (PHK) of all employees.

"Then of course the employees are not allowed and earlier it was stated a commitment that no layoffs were carried out on this new entity," Meutya told the media.

"The main thing is about workers. We also have a commitment to how we ensure that there are no layoffs for employees. That is certain that the commitment of it," said Arsjad.

With a combined market share of 25 percent, projected revenue of IDR 45.8 trillion and customer base of more than 94.5 million, XLSMART targets to become the most beloved company in Indonesia by 2027.
