JAKARTA - Apple has reiterated that anyone can now create award-winning films using only the iPhone. Through the Filmed on iPhone program held in India, this giant technology company proves that speed, flexibility, and ease of access to the iPhone 16 Pro Max have opened the door to "the era of democracy in cinema."

In a program that is now entering its second year, Apple is collaborating with Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) alumni to work on short film projects using only the iPhone 16 Pro Max and MacBook Pro with the M4 Max chip. The result? Two films from last year's participants successfully won the India 2025 Critics Choice Awards in the Best Short Film category, Best Director, and Best Writing.

The well-known director Vetri Maaran, who helped provide guidance in the program, stressed that the iPhone allows a total personal expression. "We live in an era of democracy in cinema," said Mararan, who is working on the Tamil Vaadivasal thriller film. He also mentioned that he learned a lot from young participants.

Fast, Ringkas, And Full Of Control

Udaan and Black Warrant directorjaditya Motwane, highlighted the speed of the production process as a major advantage. "Working in the Apple ecosystem provides an extraordinary advantage in speed," he said.

This is shared by cinematographer Rohin Raveendran who has worked for two Netflix series. It highlights the small dimension of the iPhone that allows creative exploration in a narrow place. One of the filmmakers even places the iPhone in a typing machine to capture a unique point of view from within the device.

Features such as multiple lans, Cinematic Mode, Action Mode, and the ability to record 4K videos up to 120 fps are the main weapons of filmmakers. They say that iPhone is not just a means of communication, but has now become a professional film device that can compete with big cameras.
