JAKARTA - HMD Global seems to be preparing to hold a nostalgic final farewell to the Nokia feature mobile phone line before its license period ends in 2026. According to information from gadget leak @smashx_60, HMD will release several Nokia rebranding models throughout 2025 "apparently a farewell tour for one of Finland's most iconic names in cellphone history."

This upcoming product line will evoke memories of the early 2000s, with names such as Nokia 3510 4G, Nokia 5710XA 4G (2025), Nokia 130 Music (2G), Nokia 150 Music (2G), and Nokia 8310 4G. This device is not a smartphone and does not try to be like that.

They are designed simply, use physical buttons, and target users who want a minimalist phone experience or who want to "rest" from modern app noise.

HMD is known to like to revive the classic Nokia model, and Nokia 5710XA is one example. First launched in 2022, this phone comes with a unique design equipped with a pair of wireless earbuds hidden on the back as well as physical music control on the body side. The 2025 version will retain this concept, but will eventually replace the Micro USB port to USB-C, adjusting to current needs.

Nokia 130 Music and 150 Music were recently updated for the Indian market with HMD branding. Both have flagship features for audio experience: 2.4-inch QVGA screen, strong 2W rear speakers, dedicated music buttons, Bluetooth 5.0, and 2,500mAh loose batteries which are claimed to last up to 34 days in standby mode.

Nokia 130 Music is equipped with two LED flashlights and UPI digital payment support. Meanwhile, Nokia 150 Music added a QVGA rear camera, flashlight, and scan-and-pay function. For the global market, these two models are expected to stick to Nokia branding.

The transition process from the Nokia brand actually started earlier this year, when HMD stopped selling fully Nokia branded smartphones. All that's left is just a handful of Nokia feature phones, that's just in certain markets and with a very limited launch frequency.

On the other hand, HMD is now more focused on building its own identity, by releasing a new product using the name HMD instead of relying on Nokia's legacy.

What we see now seems to be a closing round of the last attempt to optimize the power of Nokia's name before it completely disappears. This upcoming feature phone in 2025, the majority of which is a new version of the classic model, feels more like a strategic farewell than just a nostalgic revival. In March 2026, the co-branding strategy of HMD in packaging and Nokia in device body was officially halted, closing the curtains of this long collaboration era.

Recently, HMD also launched a Barbie Flip Phone in India at a price of Rs. 7,999. This classic foldable phone comes with a Barbie-type bright pink design, 2.8-inch display, UNISC T107 chip, 64MB RAM, 128MB expandable internal storage, VGA camera, and 1,450mAh battery.

The phone runs the S30+ operating system and includes Barbie-themed apps such asloss Snake and Meditation, adding unique touch to Barbie fans and retro gadget collectors.

With this move, HMD seems to want to end Nokia's travel round with a memorable style and unique touch, before completely turning to a new identity they are building on their own.
