Meta AI Officially Launched In Europe With Limited Capability

JAKARTA Meta AI has been extended to many countries since last year, except in Europe. Meta's Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot takes nearly a year to be available in the region.

In fact, Meta wants to launch the AI assistant since last year, but the company is facing a number of problems. Meta was asked to postpone training on AI content from Facebook and Instagram users' uploads in Ireland.

Meta also canceled the launch of Llama, a multi-modal AI model, in the European Union due to regulatory issues. Fortunately, this problem was successfully addressed so that Meta could continue the launch of their chatbot to the state of Europe.

"This launch follows nearly a year of intensive engagement with various European regulators," Meta spokeswoman Ellie Heatrick said. "We will continue to work closely with regulators so that people in Europe have access and are well served by AI Meta innovations that are already available worldwide."

Ellie menjelaskan bahwa Meta AI akan diluncurkan secara bertahap. Chatbot AI ini akan tersedia di WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, dan Messenger yang tersedia di 41 negara Eropa serta 21 wilayah di luar Eropa.

Unfortunately, the capabilities of Meta AI in these dozens of new countries will be limited. Users can only use Meta AI as text-based chat friends. This means that this AI platform can only be used to answer questions and exchange ideas.

Users will not be able to create or edit images using Meta AI. They also can't ask questions about a photo because their chatbot can't process images yet. It's not explained when this capability will be added to Meta AI for European users.
