JAKARTA - Google announced that Project Astra's live screen and video sharing features will begin rolling out for Gemini Live at the end of March 2025. This announcement was made at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 event at Barcelona.

When users open Gemini overlay on Android devices, there will now be a new button that says 'Share screen with Live' just above Ask Gemini's text field. By tapping this button, users can directly share the screen with Gemini Live, which now displays phone call-style notifications to provide a more intuitive experience.

When the screen is shared, users can ask questions about content that appears on their screen and get a direct response in interactive conversations.

In addition, Gemini Live also features a shortcut video button in full screen mode, allowing users to launch live video feeds that take up most of their screen views.

Google also made few visual changes by turning the circular buttons for "Hold" and "End" into slimmer and modern pill forms.

These new features will be available to Gemini Advanced users who subscribe to the Google One AI Premium package on Android devices. Meanwhile, MWC 2025 participants can already try this experience directly at Barcelona.

Google has been teasing users with this feature since Project Astra's announcement on Google I/O 2024 and introduced it further through Gemini 2.0 last December. Finally, a preview of this feature appeared at the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 in January 2025.

With official launches getting closer, integration of artificial intelligence in interactive experiences on Android will be more sophisticated and easily accessible to users.
