Android 16 Presents HDR Support For Screenshot Results

JAKARTA Screenshot resolution varies, depending on the device used. However, most devices store screenshots with a small resolution, not in accordance with the original image resolution.

Therefore, if someone wants to save an image with a low resolution, they don't need to use a website or application from a third party. By taking a screenshot, they will have a smaller resolution image.

However, this will no longer apply on Android 16. Based on Android Authority findings on Android 16 beta 2, Google is quietly increasing screenshot resolution to HDR. This improvement helps users maintain image details.

Whatever image is screened, the final result will remain sharp. For users who deliberately take screenshots to store low-resolution images, this is bad news. However, for most users, this is good news.

Google is trying to increase the screenshot resolution in the Android 15 version which is currently only available on several devices. There are few changes seen in the latest algorithm, namely the color that previously looked dark is now getting brighter.

The color on the image is also maintained. Google is also trying to maintain HDR details without damaging the image, but this support failed to be implemented. Therefore, Google is again improving HDR screenshot support on Android 16.

The company appears to be successfully maintaining HDR content on Android 16. All screenshots will be saved into PNG files with an HDR gainmap.
