Hyundai Santa Fe Has A Blind Spot View Monitor, Which Is More Sophisticated With Honda Sensing

JAKARTA - Hyundai Santa Fe officially opens in Indonesia soon. SUV-type cars present several significant internal and external safety enhancements.

Quoting from the Car and Driver page, there are several new safety features in the Hyundai Santa Fe that allow drivers to reduce the risk of accidents from unexpected events on the road. One of them is the Blind-Spot View Monitor, which allows the car to detect potential collisions from the rear.

Functionally, these features are similar to the Honda Sensing embedded in the CR-V, Accord to Odyssey. Its main function is to minimize the potential for accidents while driving.

The Honda Sensing function includes a variety of devices including Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) - Integrated with CMBS, Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM).

In general, these two cars provide advanced safety features that detect potential road accidents. Call it Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) which will automatically alert the driver when it detects a potential accident from the front.

Interestingly, if the driver ignores the warning, the Hyundai Santa Fe will automatically apply the brakes. With this feature, hard collisions with vehicles and with pedestrians can be anticipated or reduced.

The Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) safety feature on the Hyundai Santa Fe uses two cameras embedded in the left and right mirrors. This camera will automatically highlight objects that are in the blind-spot position or the blind spot of the driver while driving.

Also, this latest Hyundai Santa Fe car has an interesting feature called Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and Lane Following Assist (LFA). both of these features will keep the car on the track and do not cross-road markings.

It doesn't stop there, this South Korean car manufacturer also has a 360-degree parking camera, High Beam Assist, Surround View Monitor (SVM), Electric Child Lock (ECL), and Safe Exit Assist (SEA), 6 SRS Airbags, and Rear Occupant Alert (ROA).

Overall this car presents advanced safety features, but remember the driver must remain in primary control while driving. Keeping in mind these safety features cannot completely replace the function of the driver.
