JAKARTA - Coinciding with the 2025 Month Internet Safer, the Indonesian Antifitnah Society (Mafindo) launched 16 new digital literacy modules that can be accessed for free for junior high and high school students.

The themes of these modules include 'Integrating Mindfulness into the World of AI as well as Capa and Creative in the Digital World and AI'. This initiative is a continuation of the collaboration that began in 2023 with the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI) and the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI), which is supported by the Google News Initiative (GNI).

This module is expected to help students understand how to use the internet safely and avoid risks such as hoaxes, digital bullying, and online fraud.

"Digital literacy and critical thinking are important skills that must be possessed by every student," said Septiaji Eko Nugroho, Mafindo chairman in Google's official blog quoted Tuesday, February 18.

In early 2024, the Fact Check coalition initiated the preparation of modules that focused on providing skills to students in information literacy, fact checking, lateral reading methods, news literacy, and critical thinking of information in the digital space.

Through the Fact Check module from Mafindo, participants can learn to recognize virtual public spaces, digital revolutions, increase account security, stop cyberbullying, and integrate mindfulness into the world of AI.

"Initiatives aim to improve media literacy and help the community, especially the younger generation, in finding reliable information and news," said Yos Kusuma, News Partner Manager of Google Indonesia.

Google also continues to commit to fighting misinformation that it continues, and the search giant admits he is very enthusiastic about the next Fact Check innovation.
