JAKARTA - Google has committed to participating in supporting the government's mission to implement stricter rules to protect children from exposure to harmful content, such as child pornography and online gambling in the digital space.

Delivered in a meeting with the Vice President of YouTube Public Policy, Leslie Miller, at the Google Paris Office, Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid emphasized that this regulation is very necessary because cases of child pornography and online gambling in Indonesia continue to increase.

"We expect cooperation from Google to ensure a safer online environment for Indonesian children," Meutya said in a written statement quoted on Tuesday, February 11.

Data from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children shows that Indonesia is among the top four countries with the highest child pornography cases in the world.

Meanwhile, reports from the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) revealed that online gambling players under the age of 10 reached 2% of players, with a total of 80,000 people.

Responding to this, Leslie Miller emphasized that Indonesia is one of the largest markets for Google products, namely, YouTube, and its party is ready to support the initiative of the Indonesian government.

"We are ready to work with the Indonesian government to ensure our platform is safer for all users, especially children," said Leslie.
