JAKARTA While astronauts are in space, they can still connect with the team on Earth via audio or video calls. However, live streaming is something new.

For the first time, NASA astronauts will hold live streaming on Twitch via the International Space Station (ISS). The event will be broadcast on www.twitch.tv/nasa, NASA's official Twitch channel, on February 12 at 23.45 WIB.

For this first stream, NASA astronaut Don Pettit who is on the ISS will talk to NASA astronaut Matt Dominick who has returned to Earth. Both will discuss life in space and viewers can ask questions.

NASA's goal is very clear by utilizing the Twitch platform. The US space agency wants to interact directly with people interested in space knowledge. They also want to make more people interested in space.

"This Twitch show from space is the first of many other events," said Brittany Brown, Director of the Digital and Technology Division of NASA's Office of Communications. "Twitch is one of the many digital platforms we use to reach new audiences and get them excited about space."

There are several special topics that astronauts will discuss in their first Twitch broadcast. Pettit and Dominick will highlight citizen science projects and science programs as well as various technologies, techniques, and mathematics designed for the Artemis Generation.

It looks like, live streaming on Twitch will be a regular event as Brown says that, "We will host more Twitch-specific streams like this." Most likely, this streaming will be a regular event every week or every month.
