Telkomsel, Smartfren And XL Axiata Pass 2.3 GHz Frequency Band Auction Administration Stage

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) announced the results of the administrative evaluation of the 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band User Selection. The three cellular operators that passed the selection include PT Telekomunikasi Selular, PT XL Axiata Tbk, and PT Smart Telecom (Smartfren).

The Ministry of Communication and Information stated that the three documents were complete to participate in the auction process. Meanwhile, PT Hutchison 3 Indonesia and PT Indosat Tbk have not submitted the selection application documents, so they cannot pass the next stage.

In accordance with the provisions of number 4.8.3 in the 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band User Selection document, the selection participants who pass the administrative evaluation stage will follow the next stage, namely the price auction stage. Until later it can use the 2.3 GHz Radio Frequency Band for the Purposes of Organizing Cellular Mobile Networks in 2021.

"The auction price stage will begin on Monday, April 19, 2021," wrote the Ministry of Communication and Information in its official statement, Friday, April 16.

It is known that the purpose of the selection is to increase radio frequency bands for Cellular Mobile Network Providers in order to increase the capacity of cellular mobile networks. Including encouraging the acceleration of 4G / LTE network infrastructure.

The object of selection in the 2.3 GHz radio frequency band consists of 3 blocks of radio frequency bands in the range of 2,360-2,390 MHz with a band width of each block is 10 MHz. Selection participants can bid 1-3 blocks that are of interest.
