Menkomdigi Inaugurates Indonesia's First AI Center At Brawijaya University

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, inaugurated the AI Center and Data Center of Universitas Brawijaya (UB), which became one of the first artificial intelligence centers in the university environment in Indonesia.

This inauguration marks UB's strategic steps in utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to support national development, especially in the field of food security.

Through the inauguration of this AI Center, Meutya appreciated UB's initiative to quickly respond to the development of AI technology in the country. He also hopes that this can become the center of AI innovation in Indonesia.

"The UB AI Center facility is expected to be utilized by farmers and breeders throughout Indonesia," Meutya said in her official broadcast quoted Monday, January 6.

AI can be a solution to increase agricultural productivity and livestock, thus helping us achieve our food self-sufficiency targets.

Meutya also stated that her ministry's commitment to supporting universities that actively face AI-era challenges.

"We are proud and will continue to provide support to universities that are strategic partners of the government. This collaboration is very important to prepare Indonesia in the era of artificial intelligence," he added.

The UB AI Center is equipped with the latest technology facilities that allow research and development of AI applications in various sectors, including agriculture, livestock, and health. This initiative is in line with the national agenda in strengthening digital resilience and increasing Indonesia's competitiveness in the global era.

With the inauguration of this AI Center, UB not only strengthens its position as one of the leading universities, but also takes a strategic role in realizing an independent, innovative, and highly competitive Indonesia in the era of artificial intelligence.
