Having Many Startups Growing, Indonesia Enters Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific

JAKARTA - Indonesia has many startups that continue to grow. This makes Indonesia on Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2020 list.

For the first time, Indonesia was ranked 94th out of the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in the Asia Pacific. Tokopedia e-commerce company is also the only Indonesian company listed this year.

"It is an honor to enter as the first Indonesian technology company in Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2020", Tokopedia COO Melissa Siska Juminto said in a statement on Thursday, April 15.

"In the future, we will continue to be a technology company that allows Indonesians to start and discover anything, in line with our company's mission to accelerate digital economic equality in Indonesia", she added.

Meanwhile, this ranking is based on the percentage of revenue growth over the past three years. Tokopedia grew 608 percent during this period. Overall, companies ranked in Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2020 have an average growth rate of 551 percent.

Melissa said that the implementation of Tokopedia's three DNA - Focus on Consumer, Growth Mindset, Make it Happen &Make it Better - contributed to Tokopedia's revenue growth which increased by 608 percent over the last three years.

Tokopedia also recently reported a growth in the number of sellers on its platform from 7.2 million before the pandemic in January 2020 to more than 10 million sellers today. Tokopedia also experienced a growth in the number of monthly active users, from more than 90 million before the pandemic in January 2020 to more than 100 million today.

"Being ranked in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 is a great achievement, especially as today's technology companies are growing rapidly in a highly competitive and constantly changing environment. We really appreciate Tokopedia for being the top-ranked Indonesian company on this list", said Asia Pacific Deloitte Private Leader Mike Horne.

Participants must also be public or private companies headquartered in the Asia Pacific and must be "technology companies", defined as companies that develop or possess proprietary technologies that contribute significantly to the company's operating income; or make technology-related products; or have a focus on technology research and development.
