JAKARTA - The SMA Negeri 1 Kelapa team from West Bangka, Bangka Belitung managed to become the new champion at the Garena Youth Championship (GYC) 2024 Free Fire Presented by Mie Kremezz.

They won the Free Fire esports tournament for students after appearing dominant by collecting 4 Booyahs and collecting a total of 163 points in the Grand Finals round at the Esports Arena League in Jakarta.

Thanks to this victory, the Kelapa SMAN 1 team received the main prize in the form of education funds worth Rp. 33 million, scholarships for tuition fees of up to Rp. 9 million each, and exemption from base money from Multimedia Nusantara University (UMN) as the University Partner of GYC Free Fire 2024.

This scholarship will be given to the four main ships of the SMA Negeri 1 Kelapa team, namely Rehan Fajero, Rubben Tobinan Manoppo, Risky Arsandi, Muhdio Aprian Akbar Hidayat, and Dino Raka Sena.

"I am very proud to be the champion representing Bangka Regency and Sumatran Region at GYC 2024 Free Fire. Moreover, we were able to become champions with 4 Booyahs in the Grand Finals, really proud," said Free Fire Team Captain SMAN 1 Kelapa, Rubben Tobinan Manoppo.

SMAN 1 Kelapa started their journey at City Qualifier Bangka, where they looked stunning and came out as champions. This victory took them to the Qualifier Region of Sumatra 2, which brought them together with teams from Belitung, Jambi, Padang, Batam, and Pekanbaru.

On November 19, 2024, SMAN 1 Kelapa dominated this round with 134 points from 6 rounds, including 3 Booyahs, and became Sumatra's representative to the Grand Finals round with SMAN 1 Binjai.

At the 2024 Grand Finals of the GYC Free Fire which took place in Jakarta on November 30, 2024, SMAN 1 Kelapa performed extraordinaryly with 163 points from 6 rounds of matches.

With 104 eliminations, 59 placement points, and 4 Booyah, they managed to beat 11 other teams from all over Indonesia, crowned them the winners of the 2024 GYC Free Fire.

The 2024 Free Fire Championship (GYC) was presented by Mie Kremezz as the official esports tournament for junior high and high school students throughout Indonesia.

Encouraging a positive message about the balance of esports and games in the educational environment, this tournament will be present in various cities throughout Indonesia with a total prize of IDR 275 million in education funds and a scholarship of IDR 17 billion.
