JAKARTA Google Messages is again presenting a variety of interesting updates designed to improve the experience of sending messages. Although these new features are often introduced via limited trials, some of which have now been widely launched, while others are still in the beta testing phase.

One of the latest innovations is the unification of camera and gallery views in more intuitive interfaces. When users tap on gallery icons in a conversation, they will be immediately presented with an integrated active camera display with some of the latest photos of their devices. This feature also features the ability to send media in two quality options, namely "Optimize for chat" for fast delivery with less data consumption, and "Original quality" that allows full-resolution photo and video delivery.

Google Messages also introduced the "Magic Compose" feature which now appears more prominent in the response suggestion line. With this feature, users can compile messages with the help of artificial intelligence, making the communication process easier and more efficient. In addition, a new feature that allows users to react by double tapping on messages, such as the symbol of the heart or thumbs up, adds to the comfort of interacting.

Not only that, the redesign of message read marks is also in the spotlight. Now, each message status is marked with a different icon, from three points for the message being sent, to a solid double tick for the message that has been read. This innovation is expected to provide more clarity for users.

Support for users with two SIM cards, including eSIM, is also improved with the ability of RCS on both cards. This feature is designed to support the adoption of RCS internationally, ensuring a smoother message-sending experience in various countries.

The fraud detection feature also gets a significant update. With an integrated machine learning model, Google Messages is now able to recognize messages that have the potential to be fraudulent, especially messages related to sending suspicious work packages or vacancies. These messages will be tagged or transferred directly to the spam folder automatically.

In addition to the features being tested, several updates are now widely available. Users can set the name and profile photo that their contacts will see, with flexible privacy settings options. In addition, visual effects on messages, such as balloons or confettis, can now appear automatically to add excitement to conversations.

The redesign of the voice recorder is also an important update, with additional noise damping and voice mood options that allow users to adjust their recording tones. On the other hand, full transfer capabilities for RCS messages are now available on Pixel 9 devices, making it easy for users who want to move their message data to new devices.
