JAKARTA WhatsApp announced that it will launch a transcription feature on its platform. This feature that functions on voice messages is created to overcome the problem of limitations in communicating.

Voice messages are often used by WhatsApp users when they want to tell stories or explain things, but don't have enough time or don't want to make calls. Unfortunately, not everyone can receive voice messages.

The recipient of the message may be in a noisy environment or the speaker of his cellphone is having problems so that voice messages cannot be heard. Users who have hearing loss also cannot use this feature.

Therefore, WhatsApp wants to present voice message transcription capabilities in its application. Through its official website, WhatsApp explained that this feature material will be launched to all WhatsApp users, both Android and iOS users, in the near future.

The transcription feature will be activated once the WhatsApp application is updated and its features are enabled. When a user sends voice messages in a private chat room or group, another user will see the transcription at the bottom.

According to WhatsApp's explanation, this feature can only be seen by users who receive messages. The transcript will be made directly on the device so that, "no one, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read your personal messages."

This new capability can be activated by opening Settings, clicking the Chat menu, then activating Voice Messages Transcripts. This feature will be available in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Hindi.
