JAKARTA - Mastercard announced the latest upgrade from the Mastercard Payment Passkey service that allows biometric authentication on devices via facial scanning or fingerprinting.

By combining tokenizations, ease of payment of passkeys, and an easier addition of guest checkout capabilities via Click to Pay, consumers now no longer need a static password or one-time password (OTP).

Using Mastercard Click to Pay, online buyers no longer need to have an account or save a card on a merchant to be able to use biometric authentication with payment passkeys, so that payments become fast, easy, and safe for unaccounted purchases.

"Like contactless technology that makes payments directly smooth and can be done anywhere, Mastercard sees an opportunity to bring the same experience to the online checkout process," said Sandeep total, executive vice president, Products & Innovation, Asia Pacific, Mastercard.

According to him, with biometric authentication using payment passkeys, shoppers don't have to bother making complicated payments, while merchants enjoy speed and security.
