JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, has disabled 11 Kemkomdigi employees who have been detained by the police for alleged violations of online gambling laws.

Within a maximum period of 7 days since the National Police issued a letter of detention, the Ministry of Communication and Trade will impose a temporary suspension of employees involved.

Meutya said that this step was taken so that the Kemkomdigi supervision function would continue to run effectively without neglecting the principle of presumption of innocence.

"If the legal process reaches the status of the inkracht (permanent decision), then the proven guilty employee will be dishonorably dismissed," said the Minister of Trade in his official statement on Monday, November 4.

However, Meutya has not been able to name the names of the employees involved because they are still in the verification process and are waiting for further coordination between the Directorate General of Informatics Applications (Ditjen Aptika) Kemkomdigi and the Indonesian National Police.

Meutya also reiterated the importance of the commitment of all Komdigi Ministry employees to the integrity pact that has been signed and agreed upon by all employees.

He also said that Komdigi would continue to monitor the development of this case and take further steps if other employees were found to be involved in illegal activities.

Previously, Meutya had also promised to support the investigation of the National Police to Komdigi employees who were involved with online gambling syndicates, and would not indiscriminately.

Dalam keterangan lain, Wamen Komdigi Nezar Patria juga turut mendukung penuh langkah para aparat Kepolisian RI mengusut jaringan judi online.

This investigation is expected to dismantle online gambling networks to their roots, including finding the perpetrators hiding behind them. This is part of our clean-up effort," said Nezar.
