JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid received a visit from Australian Ambassador to Indonesia Penny Williams at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs office on Tuesday, October 29.

During the meeting, the Government of Indonesia and the Government of Australia had drawn up an Action Plan for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Indonesia-Australia for 2025-2029.

Meutya said this digital sector partnership would later include economic cooperation, scholarships, training and protection of digital business innovations to strengthen investment in Indonesia.

He also said that one of the implementations of digital partnerships for digital sector investment will be realized soon or in the near future.

"In the near future, 19 Australian companies will be present to invest in technology in Indonesia. Of course, this is very positive in line with the increasing role of the digital sector in Indonesia's economic growth," Meutya said in her official broadcast.

Meutya at the meeting also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the cybersecurity sector. Because according to him, either Australia or Indonesia, have the same challenges.

"I encourage Indonesia-Australia to regularly discuss cybersecurity issues, including cyber threat perceptions and responses to harmful cyber activity," he said.

So far, Indonesia and Australia have established various strategic partnerships in the field of Communication and Digital, including Australian Award scholarships for Artificial Intelligence (AI) training, visits by Australian technology companies to Indonesia, strengthening Southeast Asia's economic strategy, and cybersecurity training.
