JAKARTA Instagram will launch an expansion tool or expansion of a photo based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Stories. Thanks to this feature, uploaded photos can have a ratio that suits Story needs.

According to Sam Sheffer's account findings on platform X, formerly known as Twitter, this new feature is named AI Expander.

Simply put, this feature will feature components that are lacking or cut so that the image can be adjusted to the Story ratio.

For example, when a user uploads a photo of a hand holding a square image, users don't need to manually enlarge the image and break the photo because it is too much enlarged.

Using the AI Expander, the empty side of the photo can be filled with additional images from AI. This feature is very useful if you want to retain the aesthetic elements of the photos that have been taken.

From the AI Expander introductory page view, Instagram says that this tool works by analyzing photos. It's just that, it's not clear if there's a way to change photos from AI if users don't like the addition.

It seems that this feature is still being tested for a small number of users so you can't see or use this new feature even though you're updating the application. If it's launched, this feature will be expanded gradually.
