JAKARTA - The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, encourages data center infrastructure actors around the world to compete to build data centers that support this technology.
As one of the actors in the data center industry, President Commissioner of the Joint Digital Data Center (BDDC) Setyanto Hantoro said that data centers intended for AI require a very large investment.
Because according to him, if currently the investment value of the data center ranges from 10-11 million US dollars per Megawatt (MW), then the data center for AI requires an investment value that is 30-40 percent more expensive than usual.
"Look, the image is, if for example 1 MW of normal data center is 10-11 (number in million US dollars), maybe it could be 30-40 percent more expensive," Setyanto told the media when talking about investment value for the AI data center a few days ago.
In addition, the electricity needed for the operation of this AI data center is also three times larger than usual. There is also a cooling or cooling engine, because basically the AI data center component produces enormous heat.
"Because the electricity is almost 3 times larger. Continue to cool, the building strength must also be stronger, because it is heavier, yes, the tools," said the Association of Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) Muhammad Arif added.
