Selfie Perdana Mars Curiosity By 'Mont Mercou'

Curiosity takes a selfie on Mars (NASA GOV)

JAKARTA - NASA's exploratory robot, Curiosity, is tasked with finding the remains of past life, including water and rock samples. NASA's Curiosity rover recently reportedly approached a collection of rocks called "Mont Mercou".

The title was inspired by mountains in France. Mont Mercou is a boulder of rock that has a height of 20 feet. Curiosity has managed to take the rock imaged in a selfie and shoot a panoramic view of the surrounding.

The selfie was taken by Curiosity while near the hole it had drilled to collect a Martian rock sample called "Nontron." This sample is the thirtieth rock sample that has been taken so far.

While the helicopter is getting ready, I can't help checking out nearby rocks. This odd one has my science team trading lots of hypotheses. It's about 6 inches (15 cm) long. If you look closely, you might spot the row of laser marks where I zapped it to learn more. pic.twitter.com/sq4ecvqsOu

The rock sampling is intended to find out the history of life of Mars in the past as compiled from Slashgear. Thursday, April 1st.

From the selfie taken by Curiosity, he managed to take 60 pictures through the Hand Lens Imager on the robot explorer's arm. The photos that were taken were sent directly to earth.
