JAKARTA - According to Mark Gurman's latest newsletter, Power On, the completely rebuilt Siri with Apple Intelligence may be released to users sooner than expected. While not all features will be available at once, some of the new Siri features could be released earlier.
Gurman revealed some additional details about the Apple Intelligence feature release timeline, including the interesting information that some of the new Siri features may be released in iOS 18.3, rather than iOS 18.4 as previously predicted.
"The biggest iOS update after iOS 18.1 will be iOS 18.4, which will include many new Siri features (some of which are being considered for release in iOS 18.3)," Gurman said.
This means users may start seeing the overhauled Siri experience as early as January, as iOS x.3 versions are typically released that month, earlier than the expected March release.
Upcoming iOS 18 Updates
Gurman also provided details about the development timeline and release date of other iOS 18 updates:
- iOS 18.1 is expected to be completed internally this week, with a release in mid-October.
- iOS 18.2 is scheduled to be completed in early November and released in December.
- iOS 18.3 is expected to be completed later this year and released in January.
- iOS 18.4 is expected to be completed in early February and released in March.

As a reminder, iOS 18.1 will bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence, including light updates to Siri (new interface, faster responses), Writing Tools, Photos Clean Up, and Notification Summaries. After that, iOS 18.2 is expected to bring the Image Playground feature, Genmoji, and integration with ChatGPT. The all-new Siri is expected to be released in early 2025.
Apple first introduced the new Siri at WWDC24 in June, and it is expected to bring a number of big features. The new Siri will be better at understanding speech errors, can integrate with other applications, have an understanding of context, and be able to "see" what is on the user's screen. All of these features are expected to make Siri more effective as a personal assistant.
Interestingly, Apple seems to be trying to speed up the release timeline for this new Siri. It’s likely that Apple realized it had shipped the iPhone 16 lineup with features that weren’t fully available yet, so it wanted to introduce the new Siri to users as quickly as possible.
