JAKARTA Android 15 has been in development for several months since its introduction to the Google I/O 2024 event and its final version is available. This latest OS will launch in the coming months.

Through a developer-only blog, Google says that Android 15 will be rolled out to certain phones made by Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, realm, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi. The OS will also be available on Pixel.

When launched, mobile phone users will see many updates on the OS, ranging from new features, feature improvements, to bug fixes. Here are some functionalities that Android 15 users can find, quoted from The Verge.

Private Space

Some phones, such as Samsung, already have this feature on the devices they create, but there are still many phone models that don't have this feature. After Android 15 is launched, all phones will get a Private Space.

This feature is a separate space created specifically to store important things, such as Second Space on Xiaomi phones. When a Private Space is enabled, users will see a different phone display. This space can be used to store sensitive applications or data.

Partial Screen Record

Screen recording or screen recording features can be found on various Android phones, but not with partial screen recordings. This feature is a new breakthrough for mobile phone users who only want to record part of the screen.

When Android 15 launches, this feature will be added to the part of the Android recording tool and can be used like a regular screen recording tool. You may find this feature in some applications because developers can add their features to their app.

Widget Preview

Another interesting feature that will be available on Android 15 is the widget preview for phones. Usually, this feature can only be found on Android-based tablets. When phone users want to add a new widget, they can see what it looks like before it is added.

Satellite Emergency Message

Next is the addition of satellite-based messaging features. This feature is made specifically for emergencies, commonly known as SOS, at supporting locations. This feature is also available on Android 14, but specifically in the US.

For now, support for SOS messages with satellite assistance is only visible on Pixel phones. This satellite network support does not apply to ordinary SMS services, but also applies to MMS or messages with the media and RCS.
