JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that Indonesia still needs many efforts to create digital talents who are ready to take advantage of current technological developments.

"About 149 million digital jobs at the global level are needed in 2025, in Indonesia 27-46 million new jobs will emerge due to automation in 2030," Budi said at the launch of the 2024 Indonesian Digital Community Index (IMDI) Measurement Results on Tuesday, September 10.

However, Budi continued, this condition was quite challenging. Because 90 percent of companies in Indonesia feel the availability of digital talent is still below industry demand.

"One way to respond to the needs of digital talent through upskilling and reskilling, is to respond to developments that are so dynamic," said Budi further.

According to him, digital talent needs to have various technological skills at the middle and proficient level, which can disrupt how they work and be able to produce new innovations in the future.

He also hopes that digital talents in the country can master the latest technology and have special skills, including those related to cybersecurity, science data, to the use of AI and big data.

"This skill is then strengthened by cognitive skills such as analytic mindset, systemic mindset, and creative mindset," said the Minister of Communication and Information.
