JAKARFTA - Apple has inaugurated a new building at the Apple Park complex, known as The Observatory, a basement designed for product demonstrations, including the iPhone 16. In addition to the main building and Steve Jobs Theater which is often used for launch events, The Observatory is a new addition to which will be introduced at the "Glowtime" event.

The building was first unveiled through a series of photos published by Dezeen. The Observatory was designed as a "contemplative space" that will be used to showcase Apple's newest products during launch events.

John De Maio, Apple's Head of Global Design for real estate and development, stated that the building is designed to align with the landscape of Apple Park, following a seamless integration approach with nature.

Despite being underground, this building is far from dark or scary. On the other hand, with natural rock-like, terrazzo, and wood-like materials, as well as a large circle-shaped entrance, The Observatory provides a warm and natural feel. An oculus of three meters in diameter at the top allows natural light to enter the building.

The main space in The Observatory also gives a broad and comfortable impression, with many seats and pot plants, similar to the aesthetics of the public area on the Apple Store. This space also has a terrace with a door that connects directly to Apple Park, creating a unique experience for visitors.

The development process of The Observatory is very concerned about the environment, using 100 percent renewable energy during its construction. Although around 90 trees had to be moved, all of these trees were then replanted after the project was completed.
