10 Apple Products That Are Likely To Be Stopped After The IPhone 16 Launch Event Next Week

JAKARTA - Apple will soon hold an annual event for the launch of the latest iPhone on September 9, 2024. In addition to introducing the iPhone 16, the show is also expected to feature the latest generation AirPods, several new models of Apple Watch, and possibly other products. However, as usual, the launch of this new product will also be accompanied by the termination of several old products that are no longer Apple's main focus.

Here are 10 Apple products whose sales will most likely stop after the event.

1. iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which were first introduced in 2023, are expected to stop production just a year after launch. This has become Apple's custom since 2018, where they have stopped production of the iPhone flagship after one year to focus on the latest models.

The iPhone 15 Pro is known as the first iPhone to use titanium material and has a screen size of 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches. With the iPhone 16 Pro expected to come with a larger screen, the Pro model of the iPhone 15 is likely not to be produced anymore, especially with the exclusive color Blue Titanium which is predicted not to return on the iPhone 16 Pro line.

2. iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus is Apple's first attempt to offer a large iPhone in the entry-level segment, after failures from mini models such as the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini. Although it comes with the same 6.7-inch screen as Pro Max's model and superior battery life, the iPhone 14 Plus is still more affordable. However, as happened with last year's iPhone 13 mini, there is a high probability that Apple will stop this model and keep the cheaper iPhone 14 in its product lineup for a while.

3. iPhone 13

Introduced in 2021, the iPhone 13 brings a number of important upgrades such as longer battery life, better camera systems, and smaller notch designs. Despite having experienced a price drop to $599, the age of the product, which is nearly three years old, has seen it most likely stop production. The iPhone 14 may replace the iPhone 13 at the same price point, at least until the iPhone SE 4 launches.

4. Apple Watch Series 9

The Apple Watch Series 9, which is today's flagship model, is likely to be replaced by Series 10, which is expected to bring in major updates, including more efficient screens, thinner casings, and new chipsets. With this new model, Apple will usually stop selling older models.

5. Apple Watch Ultra 2

Apple Watch Ultra 2, known as the premium model with longer battery life and special features for active users, will also most likely be replaced by the Ultra 3 model. Although there are only minor updates, Apple usually stops selling previous models when new versions are introduced.

6. Apple Watch SE 2

The Apple Watch SE 2 model, which is a more affordable version of Apple Watch, is expected to be replaced by the SE 3 which is rumored to be using plastic casings to reduce production costs. Apple will most likely stop selling the SE 2 model after this launch.

7. AirPods 2

AirPods 2, which was first released in 2019, has become an entry-level choice for many users. However, with rumors that Apple will launch AirPods 4 in two different variants, AirPods 2 will most likely stop production to provide space for newer and more sophisticated models.

8. AirPods 3

AirPods 3, which was released in 2021, will also most likely be stopped production. This model was introduced with the Spatial Audio feature and better audio quality, but with the presence of AirPods 4, which will reportedly be equipped with noise cancellation, Apple will most likely stop selling AirPods 3.

9. iPad mini 6

The iPad mini 6, which is the latest version of a small iPad, is expected to be replaced by a new model that might support Apple Intelligence technology and more storage capacity. Apple usually doesn't keep old models when they introduce new models, so the iPad mini 6 will most likely stop production.

10. iPad 10.

The iPad 10, which is one of Apple's cheapest iPads, just experienced a decline in prices earlier this year. However, there are rumors that a new model will soon be introduced. While there is little chance Apple will keep selling the iPad 10 at a lower price after the iPad 11 launch, history shows that Apple prefers to replace old models with new ones.
