JAKARTA - As an effort to combat online gambling, the Ministry of Communication and Information together with the Financial Services Authority, Bank Indonesia, and 11 Associations / Associations of National Payment Systems, made a declaration of online gambling eradication on Wednesday, August 28.

Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi expressed his optimism for the new breakthrough can accelerate and increase the government's effectiveness in closing transaction gaps and activities related to online gambling in Indonesia.

According to Budi, based on PPATK data in July 2024, Kominfo's steps have succeeded in reducing the number of access to online gambling sites by 50 percent, and a decrease in the number of public deposits on online gambling sites by Rp34.49 trillion.

"As a more concrete step, Kominfo, BI, OJK and the 11 associations and associations will form a joint task force or team to orchestrate efforts to eradicate online gambling more massively, firmly, and indiscriminately," Budi said at a press conference in Jakarta.

In addition to this collaboration, the Minister of Communication and Information Budi has also required 18,000 providers of the Electronic System (PSE) in the private scope to sign an online anti-judicial integrity pact.

"I have sent a letter asking for 11,693 electronic system operators (PSE) which includes 18,230 electronic systems (SE) in the private sphere that are registered and operating in Indonesia to sign an integrity pact," said Budi.

In general, the integrity pact requires private PSE to ensure information security and be responsible for the implementation of electronic systems reliably, safely, and responsibly.
