JAKARTA - In collaboration with Google Cloud, the Ministry of Communication and Information launched Google Cloud Career (GCC) Launchpad, to facilitate students to get cloud-based training and skills certification.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Informatics Nezar Patria said that with this GCC Launchpad, students from 21 universities in Indonesia can become beginners who are experts in skills in generative AI, data analysis, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering.

The launch of the GCC Launchpad is because according to him, the existence of digital talent, especially skilled cloud workers, is needed to accelerate national digital transformation, especially in Indonesia.

"An initiative that allows students in higher education institutions to obtain Google Cloud skills that are recognized nationally at no cost, opening the door to jobs in AI, data analysis, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering," Nezar said, quoted Friday, August 16.

Mezar also added that this skills certification is in line with the 2024 Indonesia Digital Vision (VID) which is a strategy to strengthen the national digital ecosystem.

For starters, this initiative aims to provide benefits to 8,500 students over the next 12 months.

However, Nezar added, Kominfo has a program expansion plan, to reach more students both in metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas in the future.

"This cloud learning will equip students who have just entered the industry with practical cloud skills and according to current technology-based industrial and labor market needs," concluded Nezar.
