JAKARTA Turkey has blocked access to the popular video game platform, Roblox, due to concerns about content that could lead to child abuse. This was said by Turkey's Minister of Justice, Yilmaz Tunc.

"Our country is obliged to take the necessary steps to ensure the protection of our children," said Tunc on social media platform X. Using technology in a negative way is unacceptable.

He said that a Turkish court had imposed a blocking of access based on an investigation by prosecutors in Turkey's southern Adana province regarding concerns about content that could lead to child abuse. Tunc did not provide further details on the matter.

Roblox did not immediately respond to several requests for comment submitted to representatives in the United States and Britain.

On its website, the company hosting this user-made game states that "our safety & privacy system and team continues to grow and innovate to ensure everyone feels safe on Roblox, every day."

Roblox's blocking comes after Turkey blocked access to its social media platform Instagram last week, arguing Instagram did not comply with certain laws and public sensitivities.

Turkish officials have held talks with Instagram this week, but the matter has not been resolved.
