Google Rejects Report Of KPPU Violations Related To Google Play Billing System

JAKARTA - In the trial of the case which was held on Tuesday, July 16, Google rejected the Report of Alleged Violations (LDP) submitted by investigators regarding the implementation of the Google Play Billing System in Indonesia.

Google LLC, which was represented by its attorney, said that there was an error by the investigative panel chaired by Hilman Pujana with two members of the assembly, namely Mohammad Reza and Eugenia Mardanugraha regarding the payment policy on Google Play.

With this response, the Commission Council will compile the results of the Initial Examination. On the same occasion, KPPU investigators and the Reported Party have also submitted a list of the names of Witnesses and/or Experts to the Commission Council.

For information, in a previous hearing held on June 28, Google LLC allegedly required companies that distribute their applications through the Google Play Store using the Google Play Billing (GPB) System.

Not only that, Google will also reportedly impose sanctions on app developers if they do not comply with the policy, by removing the app from the Google Play Store.

GBP is a method or purchase of digital products and services in the application (in-app purchasing) which is distributed on the Google Play Store, in Indonesia.

Previously, Google had also shown transparency in payment policies, where they provided a lot of payment flexibility for developers.

Google Play has even collaborated with various payment service providers including local e-Wallets such as Funds and GoPay, as well as operators such as Indosat and Telkomsel.
